Dr Phil Show
I watched Coach Broyles & his family on Dr. Phil and it almost brought tears to my eyes when he talked about his wife begging to go home. We went thru the same thing with my mother (but my father would yell at her & tell her that her parents were gone, even though she wouldn't remember five minutes later). I wish I would have known about Coach Broyles Playbook sooner. She is in stage 7 now, but she seems happier now that my sister & I have taken on all her care since we have more patience with her.

Coach Broyles on "The Doctors"
I saw your appearance recently on "The Doctors" and am very glad I did. My mother-in-law was put into a Phase 2 of an alzheimer's home in April and my father-in-law still feels guilty about it. She is 84 and he is 89 and was totally caring for her, but his health was suffering greatly from it. If you ever go to San Antonio, TX, please speak to residents at Air Force Village I and II. Many of them have put their loved ones in a world-renowned alzheimer's unit there. My in-laws (and their son, and myself) are all from Arkansas - they are retired Air Force; and we are trying to retire on Bull Shoals Lake. I would love for him to know that he has done the right thing.
Thank you,
Kellie

Thanks
I forced my dad, who is the primary caregiver to my mom with EOAD, to come to the workshop that you and your daughter spoke at in Tyler, Texas. It was exactly what he needed to hear. Thank you so much for putting your story out there for others to benefit from. It is four years after diagnosis and she is in the late stages (stage 6) and this is the first time my dad has accepted the idea of getting outside help from someone other than me. Your book put it into terms he relates to. Thank you !!!!

A Wonderful Gift Touching So Many Lives
Thank you for channeling your love for your wife through this Playbook. As a Chaplain and Director of our Volunteer Program I have found it most helpful to recommend and to use with family members and volunteers.
You help make what is so overwhelming so much more manageable.
We have 133 residents most of whom are living in the reality of Alzheimer\'s Disease and Related Memory Disorders. Blessings on you & all who help you.

Matt and Coach, thanks for visiting www.alzheimersrgroup.org on last week. We hope to be as encouraging to caregivers as you are in our fight against the stresses of caring for our loved ones.

Daughter trying to understand
It so hard to watch the man that was my Dad, become a child in the body of an old man. My is heart hurting watching him go down. The Man I could go and get answers and now he come to me. This sickness had change my whole family and sometime its made us think.(what are we going to do) My mom is the main caregiver and its taking it toll on her. All us children work and it make it hard for her.
I go over everyday,I lived right behind them. The stress from all this put a toll on you and there time I wonder will we get thru this. I am trying to read this playbook and hope it will shed some light in helping me to understand this awful diease we call Alzheimer's.
